Employees in today’s oil business can not work in isolation. They must constantly interact with others, freely exchanging data and ideas and reshaping their jobs to better serve the changing organization around them. With these new demands, every employee needs a basic understanding of the industry. This includes familiarity with each of the upstream technologies and operations (geophysics, drilling, well logging etc.), the jobs of the various specialists (geologists, engineers) and the issues critical to the company’s success as a business.

This course explains the application of geological principles to petroleum geology. The comprehensive character of the course satisfies the geological requirements of a wide variety of petroleum industry disciplines.

This training will be conveyed in an integrated and enjoyable yet effective fashion by looking at the “big picture”. Details that would confuse the essentials are avoided – broad principles and inter- connections are stressed. Realistic exercises and focus on the critical decisions in each activity let the participants see through the eyes of the person doing it. No industry experience or college background is needed to grasp the material. The learning is enlivened by exercises discussions, quizzes, games and real life examples and insights from instructor’s varied career.

FORMATION EVALUATION

WELL LOG DATA INTERPRETATION ANALYSIS

April 12th – 15th 2010, at Harris Kuta Hotel – Bali

Instructor:

Doct-Ing. Ir. Supomo M. Atmodjo

OBJECTIVES

Well logging, although implement various principles in practice, but basically is dedicated to one common goal to measure certain physical parameters of rocks being drilled continuously in order to get interested information concerning the formation, their porosity, permeability and the nature of containing fluids.

With the recent trend to build an effective synergy in Geophysics, Geology and Reservoir Engineering approach, the Formation Evaluation is becoming more and more challenged, not only in their contribution to refine horizons and layers definitions in geologic modelling, but also in defining indispensables parameters for perforating intervals selection, which is usually related to a certain production target.

In this context, this course is designed for the log analyst, geologist and engineer who has experienced working in a team or is being prepared to work in a synergy team. However this five days course develops the capability for independent work in application of Formation Evaluation to exploration and production problems. The emphasis is on illustration by examples and case histories.

Dear Professionals,

Wind Energy can help oil and gas industry to drive remote wells. Please register now.

At first we did not realize that wind energy in Indonesia could give a significant contribution for their people. But our beliefs proved wrong as Indonesian people for hundred years has become marine nations which utilize wind energy to drive millions of boats for sailing everyday. We can imagine how many tons of fuel will be waisted and create pollutions to the air if the fuel is used to replace the wind energy.

Wind along the coastal area blows in opposite direction at noon and at night. At noon the temperature in land is higher than on sea, therefore the wind blows from the sea to the land. However, at night the temperature in the land is colder than on the sea so the wind blows from the land to the sea. Wind along the coastal area always behave that way along the years.

In general, in dry season wind at coastal area blows approximately 15 hours a day whereas at rainy season only 10 hours a day. That big amount of wind can be explored and catched as an energy and saved afterwards. Then the energy can be used for daily activities such as for providing water and electricity. continue reading…
