Employees in today’s oil business can not work in isolation. They must constantly interact with others, freely exchanging data and ideas and reshaping their jobs to better serve the changing organization around them. With these new demands, every employee needs a basic understanding of the industry. This includes familiarity with each of the upstream technologies and operations (geophysics, drilling, well logging etc.), the jobs of the various specialists (geologists, engineers) and the issues critical to the company’s success as a business.

This course explains the application of geological principles to petroleum geology. The comprehensive character of the course satisfies the geological requirements of a wide variety of petroleum industry disciplines.

This training will be conveyed in an integrated and enjoyable yet effective fashion by looking at the “big picture”. Details that would confuse the essentials are avoided – broad principles and inter- connections are stressed. Realistic exercises and focus on the critical decisions in each activity let the participants see through the eyes of the person doing it. No industry experience or college background is needed to grasp the material. The learning is enlivened by exercises discussions, quizzes, games and real life examples and insights from instructor’s varied career.

On Day#5, a visit to Rajamandala area, a favorite geological study in West Java, will be conducted

to close the gap between theory and practice. Participants will study the rocks, collecting data and try to make their own geological interpretation using all they got from the classroom.

*Objectives*** *In this interactive training, participants will have the opportunity to:* * · *Gain a strong based knowledge and understanding on a comprehensive and integrated concept of geology and its practices. *· *Understand the geological terminology, especially associated with the Petroleum Operations. *· *Learn how a geologist conducts his field geological study *· *Discuss the requirements for an geological project for oil & natural gas in Indonesia. *· *Learn new paradigms to become proficient in oil & gas business * * *Program Approach*

The emphasis of this program is on experience. Whatever the situation – an understanding of geological efforts in petroleum industry and its operation’s terminology aiming to build a confident, better and effective communications.

Lecturing, group discussion, games, the use video-clips and photographs will be conducted during the training. Emphasis will be placed on giving participants the opportunity to participate in all discussions and activities.

On Day #5, a visit to Rajamandala area, a favorite geological study in West Java, will be conducted, to close the gap between theory and practice.

Participant will study various Tertiary sedimentary rocks with different structure, types, and environment, such as deep water turbidite black shale, interbedded sandstones and claystones, shallow marine limestone and their unique morphology. These data will help them to make their own geological interpretation of West Java area.
