The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Indonesia is an
independent humanitarian agency established in 1984 by the Seventh-day
Adventist Church for the specific purpose of individual and community
development and disaster relief in Indonesia. The basis for its existence,
its reason for being, is to show God’s love and example by living for,
helping and working with those in need in community development and disaster
relief programs

Position: Technical Advisor

Duty Station: Padang, West Sumatera
Contract: 3 months
Supervisor: Program Director

Role: Primarily responsible for providing structural engineering services to
beneficiaries in the construction of transitional shelters. The structural
Technical Advisor (TA) is responsible for providing services in a
professional, ethical and proficient manner. The duties will include, but
not limited to, extensive assessment of houses; development of construction
plans; compiling bills of quantity; drafting contracts and work schedules;
developing construction standards and compliance schedules. The TA will also
be expected to liaise and regularly update the local government, enhance the
capacity of IDPs in skills upgrading/development and attend meetings dealing
with house reconstruction matters. The role of TA is a major link between
ADRA Indonesia, the government, partners, stakeholders and the communities
and therefore requires proficient skills in communication and
building.
Qualifications Required:
• A degree in Engineering, preferably in structural.
• At least at least three (3) years working experience.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the objectives and mission of ADRA.
• Highly organized, have high integrity, be self motivated using initiative.
• Have above average interpersonal skills in order to maintain a good
working relationship with other team members, partners and stakeholders.
• Have good structural engineering skills.
• Good communication English skills are essential in order to effectively
carry out the required duties.
• The ability to work under pressure at times, while maintaining high
quality results, is an essential requirement.
Job Summary:

• Assess houses to determine construction needs.
• Develop reconstruction plans, schedules and detailed bills of quantity.
• Establish and implement construction protocols and standards
• Promoting safe building practices and technical support for the team
• Liaise and network with all stakeholders in the reconstruction of
transitional shelters.
• Ensure that all documents pertaining to structural works are well
organized and maintained.
• Ensure that ethics and protocols for reconstruction works are followed.
• Appropriate documents are availed to respective team members promptly to
facilitate timely action.
• Maintain a daily log of reconstruction works.
• Maintain an up to date time sheet for time spent on each project
activities on a daily basis.
• Participate in meetings as requested.
• Participate in training sessions as requested.
• Perform other general duties related as may be assigned by the Project
Coordinator
