Vacancy for Field Engineer with TSU – Micro Hydro Project

Indonesia with its abundant water resources has potential for thousands of
mini and micro hydro power schemes throughout the islands. Technical Support
Unit (TSU) is interlinked with Green PNPM program. TSU’s aim is to provide
technical support in order to ensure quality, sustainability and
technical sound design of the hydro schemes built under the program and to
integrate best practices for sustainable hydro power with future PNPM
activities, i.e. build and strengthen capacity at ground level.

TSU is seeking 1 (one) qualified candidate for the position of Field
Engineer as consultant, preferable with experience in Micro Hydro
implementation. The responsibilities of this vacancy are shown in the Term
of Reference below:

Tasks
The Field engineer/extension worker will be stationed either in the TSU
Project Office in Makassar, Sulawesi Selatan or in the TSU Field Office in
Mamasa, Sulawesi Barat as a consultant with frequent travel and stay to
Sulawesi Barat, Sulawesi Utara and Sulawesi Tenggara. He/she will work with
a team of micro hydro experts for implementation of the planned activities.

In specific his/her tasks will be:

Overall (over the whole project period)
- conduct site verification site visits
- conduct site surveys of proposed and / or potential MHP sites
- assist with preliminary site mapping of potential districts
- on the job and formal training of PNPM field staff
- preparation of detailed technical drawings / sketches as
appropriate for field use
- support respective PNPM staff in construction supervision of
MHP sites
- general office management tasks

Qualifications
- Undergraduate/graduate from Civil or Mechanical Engineering
(MHP Experience is a plus)
- Capable of communicating, reading and writing in English
- Project monitoring experience
- Work experience on local institutional/ private level
- Moderation/facilitation competence
- Understanding of participative approaches for project
development
- Knowledge of international development cooperation
- Knowledge of surveying methods and tools
- Experience with AutoCAD (2007)
- SIM (driving license) for motorbike (for car is a plus)

Time of Contract
As soon as possible until June 2012
Working days 5 days/week

2. Vacancy for Senior Civil Engineer with TSU – Micro Hydro Project

TSU is seeking 1 (one) qualified candidate for the position of Senior Civil
Engineer as consultant, preferable with experience in Micro Hydro
implementation. The responsibilities of this vacancy are shown in the Term
of Reference below:

Tasks
The Senior Engineer will be stationed in the TSU Project Office in Makassar,
Sulawesi Selatan as a consultant with frequent travel and stay to Sulawesi
Barat, Sulawesi Utara and Sulawesi Tenggara.
He/she will work with a team of micro hydro experts for implementation
of the planned activities.

In specific his/her tasks will be:

Overall (over the whole project period)
- support of TSU regional coordinator in coordination of
project activities with district PNPM
- preliminary site mapping of potential districts
- coordination of budget allocation preparations with
respective PNPM and PMD regional staff
- development of extension material for PNPM field staff in
cooperation with national/international experts
- site verification and surveys of potential sites
- preparation of detailed designs, including drawings and RABs
in collaboration with the TSU team and respective PNPM field staff
- on the job and formal training of PNPM field staff
- Support PMD in terms of community empowerment and training of
field facilitators regarding identification, planning, designing and
management of renewable energy technologies and systems.
- support respective PNPM staff in construction supervision of
MHP sites
- preparation of site visit/progress reports
- general office management tasks

Qualifications

- Graduate from Civil Engineering (Micro Hydro Experience is a
plus)
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience as civil engineer
- Capable of communicating, reading and writing in English
- Project monitoring experience
- Work experience on local institutional/ private level
- Moderation/facilitation competence
- Understanding of participative approaches for project
development
- Knowledge of international development cooperation
- Experience with AutoCAD (2007)
